Case study

Juniper SRX and EX rollout across five Indian cities

Deploying Juniper SRX firewalls and EX switches in Bangalore, Delhi, Pune, Chennai and Hyderabad with IPsec and SSL VPN, OSPF failover to HQ and connectivity to AWS VPCs.

The challenge

A growing company was opening offices across India and needed a secure, standard network in each city, connected to headquarters, the data centers and its AWS VPCs – with failover when a link went down.

What I did

  • Led the deployments of Juniper SRX firewalls and EX switches in Bangalore, Delhi, Pune, Chennai and Hyderabad.
  • Built site-to-site IPsec and SSL VPNs, NAT and URL filtering on Juniper SRX and Sophos.
  • Designed OSPF routing with failover paths between the branches and HQ.
  • Ran a proof of concept for IPv6 to check standards and application compatibility.
  • Documented SOPs and topology diagrams for operations and audits; led L3 escalations 24/7.

Outcome

  • A standard, secure branch design repeated in five cities.
  • Automatic failover between branches and HQ.
  • Audit-ready documentation and a tested path towards IPv6.
